A note from the committee Expect a Miracle Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was a great believer in miracles. He once said, “The miracle is a cast of mind, which seems to be described in Psalm 62’ ‘wait thou only upon God: for my expectation is from Him.’” Expect great things from God and you will receive great things from God. Your Pastor Search Committee is expecting a miracle from God as he leads us to the man He has chosen as our Pastor. Pastor and Church can be compared to a marriage. If the choice is right—it fits. Please continue to pray for us as we pray for this miracle God has for YBC and its new Pastor. How to Call A Pastor by: C.M. Coalson The importance of a church calling God’s man for that church and that time simply cannot be over-stated. Fortunately most churches succeed in securing the right minister. Nevertheless, the stream of church history is littered with accounts of heart-rending situations created by churches failing to find and follow the will of God in seeking, finding and calling the man God has chosen for that particular church at that particular time. Generally speaking, if a church succeeds here, it succeeds; if it fails here, it fails. The Church Intercedes Since God alone can know whom He would have to serve as pastor of a church His will must be found. Persistent, earnest, and humble prayer is the way to find God’s will. Just as surely as God sent Ananias to Saul (Acts 9:11) so will He send a church to the one man He has anointed for that church’s leadership. Methods are important but they are unavailing unless the hearts of God’s people are fervently praying with faith that the Holy Spirit will direct and secure for them the right man. The members must “pray without ceasing” and believe that God directs the minds and hearts of His people. The Pastor Search Committee continues to work diligently in search of God’s man for shepherding YBC. God has brought us thirty-seven resumes of qualified men. We are prayerfully processing each of them and bringing to the top the ten that we feel God is leading us to. As we approach this pivotal place, we seek your fervent prayers. Only through the persistent, earnest, and humble prayers of our church family can we reach this person. Don’t forget the question/comment boxes in the entrance of the Sanctuary and the Welcome Center. This is your way to communicate with the committee you have selected to focus on this task. We so appreciate your support and advice and especially do we appreciate your prayers. Pastor search Committee Members Brenda Davis – Chair, Eric Schmidt - Vice-Chair,

A note from the committee Faith is to step out. Lets all step out!!
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving. Colossians 4:3

And, the work continues!! Its difficult to report new things each week since the work of the committee is rather routine at this phase. We continue to review resumes and consider items of importance in the normal process.
Last Sunday our Pastor reminded us of a tremendously important point as we seek out God’s man for YBC. “A pastor is called to do God’s work. Not what we tell him to do.” We need to remind ourselves of this truth as we prepare for a new pastor. With this attitude, think of the freedom he can have to begin day one in leading YBC in God’s way.!

Work continues to progress with our PSC. We continue to receive résumés from men who are interested in coming to YBC. We have nineteen that have come without any requests on our part. It is so necessary that we stay focused on God and His leading.
A human perspective can certainly be different from God’s and that is the only objective we, as a committee and as a church family, must have. The process does take time, and sometimes a lot of time. Continue to pray as we search for God’s man to serve Him in the best church in Florida. You know, YBC is the sleeping giant.

Do you feel it? Are you experiencing it? Are you seeing evidence of it? Have you noticed there are more smiles on faces? Have you heard more laughter than usual? Have you shared a new and special love for each other? Have you noticed you are beginning to enjoy being around people you once avoided? Are you hugging a little more? Are you encouraging others more? Are you feeling more encouraged yourself?
It’s A GOD THING!! Something wonderful is happening at Yulee Baptist Church. God is at work in our hearts and lives. He is stirring as never before. He is changing all of us. Can’t you sense it every time you come into His church? Can’t you feel it in your heart and life?
Your Pastor Search Committee is experiencing this in our meetings. God seems to be busy getting us ready for our new pastor, whomever that is. He has brought us an exceptional interim pastor, (isn’t he wonderful?), and He has placed a new excitement and joy in our midst.
Lets just Praise The Lord Together!

Pastor to Be Results
On the reverse of this page you will find the results of the Church Survey, “What I Want Our Next Pastor To Be.” You will find the total responses listed beside each category. We had 66 responses from the congregation.
Your committee continues to meet weekly. Our emphasis of this phase is to collect data and materials to be presented to the prospect when the time comes to approach one person.
We are also hard at work studying the résumés we have received. We are learning how to read and study a résumé for the best possible effect; in other words, to understand what is being presented and the implications of every statement. It certainly is taking a lot of prayer – therefore, much of our meeting time is given unto prayer.
Continue to pray, comment; ask questions by placing them in the PSC boxes in the Sanctuary Foyer and the Welcome Center.

What Makes A Good Pastor
Your Pastor Search Committee continues to meet weekly. We always spend time in prayer for our Church, our Community, and the man God is preparing for us. We remind you to do the same.
We also continue to receive résumés. If you know someone who feels that he would like to be considered as our Pastor, ask him to email his résumé to pdavisi@bellsouth.net
When you have questions, suggestions, thought, and ideas, please let the committee know by placing all comments in the Pastor Search Committee boxes located at the entrance to the Sanctuary and in the Welcome Center. We appreciate your comments.
Do not forget to pray for us by name daily.

Reminder: “Questions for the PSC Box.” Please place any questions or comments you have regarding the work of the committee in this box. We will use these as part of our weekly report, (we will use no names). One box is placed in the church entrance, another in the welcome center.
Your report today presents you with a copy of the Covenant of Agreements that each member of the committee has already signed. We read these at each committee meeting as an act of re-commitment.
Your committee is moving into phase II of the Process (see 11-01-09 report.) Continue to pray for us, our church and the man God is preparing for us.
Every committee member has a responsibility for earnestly seeking to express the Spirit of Christ through every spoken word, every personal interaction, and every decision made. It means that each will recognize the others as Priests in the Kingdom of God and will show appropriate respect and deference.

The PSC is currently meeting on a weekly basis. We are in Phase I of the Pastor Search Process and beginning Phase II.
We have recently received training from experienced convention leaders, for both Spiritual preparation and the actual work related to the search process. We have formed a solid and very capable committee, but more importantly we have formed a God-called committee. We are committed to finding God’s man and have no personal agenda. We ask for your trust in God to lead us, the committee and the church body, in the correct direction for His decision.
